Types of Engraving

Traditional:

There are three types of traditional headstones, classic engraving, raised lettering, and frosted. Each is unique in style and helpful in creating distinguished memorials for loved ones. Utilizing deep engravings to provide a timeless look in all granite colors.

The classic style features designs and lettering that are engraved with a sandblaster. 

Raised lettering means that the words and designs aren’t carved out, rather the space around them is carved to utilize the polished part of the memorial. 

Frosted designs are created when polish is removed from the memorial. This causes selected sections of the stone to appear lighter, creating contrast between the polished and unpolished parts of the stone. 

*Photos can be added to traditionally engraved memorials, however they are not included and need to be purchased in addition to the memorial. 

Photo-Etch:

The photo-etch style is semi-realistic art in black and white imagery. A laser is used to carve the design underneath the top layer of the marker, resulting in a classic and seamless appearance to the memorial. Photos are included in this style, however they must be black and white and cannot be added later. Photo-etched memorials are only available on our premium black granite. 

*Colored photos can be added in the same way they are added to traditional markers, but they also need to be purchased in addition to the memorial. 

Full Color Panel:

Full color panels are a unique way to memorialize your loved ones. Full color panels provide opportunities for vibrant images and intricate designs. All pictures are included and they can be in color. The panels are made on enameled steel and have a protective coating to shield the memorial from the elements. Full color panels can be placed in flat markers and in upright memorials as space allows. However, not all cemeteries allow full color panels so it is important to check the cemeteries requirements. 

Because full color panels are not carved we cannot add information (except passing dates) to them later. All pictures, names, and wording must be added ahead of time. For memorials with two people half color panels are also available to save space for loved ones who have not passed.

Photos

Portraits can be added to markers as a way to memorialize your loved ones. Photos come in three shapes, ovals, rectangles, and hearts. Custom shapes are also available, contact us for more information. Each shape is available in multiple sizes, making it easy to fit pictures onto any memorial. Photo prices vary depending on size, shape, and if the photo is in black and white or in color. 

There is not a limit on how many portraits can be added to a memorial, providing there is space. However, they come separately and must be purchased in addition to the memorial. 

Like full color panels, photos have a protective coat on them to shield them from damage from the elements.
